Dennis Arnold Postema, 80, of Mt Pleasant, passed away on November 14, 2016 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. He was born April 1, 1936 son of the late Arnold and Mavis (Schuyler) in New Era, Michigan and spent most of his life in the Mason/Oceana area. Dennis graduated from Shelby High School in 1955. He thrived on hard work, both on the job and at home, and his jobs included driving trucks for Martin-Marietta for seven years, 15 years as a bus mechanic for Ludington Area Schools, and 25 years in sales and service for H&R Industries. He also served in the National Guard 1959-1962. After the death of his wife, Theresa (Brye) Postema on Nov. 12, 2011, Dennis married Susan Henderson on Nov. 11, 2013. Dennis is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Julie (Rick) McGuirk of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Tom, Trevor, Tyler and Taryn; daughter, Stacy Postema Snayd (Michael) of Kingwood, TX; and three granddaughters, Molly, Morgan and Hope Snayd. He also is survived by three step-children, Earl (Linda) Peterson, Kittie (Tom) Osborn and Judy (Doug) Kurzer, all of Oceana County; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren from his previous marriage of 21 years to Theresa. Two sisters, Christine Sikkenga and Sandra Sunde, also survive him. Dennis life was one of strong Christian values, hard work and devotion to family. He was a longtime member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Ludington and the Hart Congregational United Church of Christ and was warmly welcomed into his new church family of Maranatha Baptist Church in Mt Pleasant. We all thank God for his wonderful life and take comfort from knowing he is home now with his Father in heaven. A celebration of Dennis life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17 at Maranatha Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Gene Haymaker officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Hart Cemetery in Hart, Michigan on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home.
