Dennis A. Roberts

Dennis A. Roberts, 62, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Kalamazoo passed away Monday, October 1, 2007 at home with his family by his side. His funeral will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 4, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Sharyn Osmond of Countryside United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation will follow with interment to be in Woodland Cemetery near Rosebush. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the service begins. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or the Norval Morey Cancer Center. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Dennis was born Oct. 17, 1944 in Kalamazoo, the son of Joseph and Marion (Martin) Roberts. He married Karen Erskine on Aug. 28, 1987 in Kalamazoo. He graduated from Richland High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. He spent 30 years working for General Motors as a Millwright before moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1999. Most recently he has worked alongside his wife in taking care of the fresh flowers at the Soaring Eagle Resort in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed gambling, especially betting on horses. Fishing, golfing, camping and going to the movies were his other favorite pastimes. Dennis is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen of Mt. Pleasant; five children, Brian (Cheryl) Roberts, Debbie (Peter Thompson) Roberts, Dennis Roberts Jr., and Carolyn Roberts, all of Kalamazoo and Ben Roberts of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren, Zachary and Alexis Roberts; his mother, Marion Gara of Kalamazoo; and his sister, Sharon (Jack) Penny of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Roberts.
