Dennis Wezensky, 63, of Leaton, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Central Michigan Community Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, December 2, at St. Henrys Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass begins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or St. Henrys/St. Charles Parish Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dennis was born July 18, 1948, in Dearborn, son of Victor and Laundie (Klester) Wezensky. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a Sergeant during Vietnam from 1968-1970. On May 17, 1974, he married Rhonda Knott at St. Marys University Parish in Mt. Pleasant. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Central Michigan University and began teaching at St. Henrys School. He served as principal for one of the five years he was there. The majority of his career was spent at Clare Public Schools where he taught for 31 years. The last several years he was the physical education teacher for K-5. He retired in 2010. Some of Dennis favorite pastimes were farming, showing cattle, baseball and participating in church activities. But most important to him were his faith and family. Dennis is survived by his wife, Rhonda; two daughters, Eryn (Mike) Aiena of Oxnard, CA and Kathleen Wezensky of Mt. Pleasant; his father, Vic Wezensky of Leaton; brother, Victor A. (Roberta) Wezensky of Toledo, OH; two sisters, Donna (Mark) Peterson of Mt. Pleasant and Virginia (Thomas) Collins of Longwood, FL; father-in-law, Earl Knott of Waterford; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laundie in 1999.
