Derry Dunn, 88, of Weidman, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012, at North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Derry was born April 2, 1924, in Rosebush, son of the late Herman and Iva Jane (Prout) Dunn. He was a former owner of the Coldwater Lake Inn in Weidman. Prior to that, he had owned the Chieftain Hotel in Mt. Pleasant. In his retirement Derry worked as a custodian at Central Michigan University. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Derry is survived by four children, Robert Dunn of Ironwood, Sue Ann Acker of Durand, William (Cindy) Dunn of Rosebush, and James Jason Dunn of Weidman; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Doreen Lewis of Alma; his significant other, Joanne Erpelding of Weidman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Eula Mae Dunn.
