Diana Pung of Beal City passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Diana was born July 13, 1938, to the late Russell and Esther (Irwin) in Clare, Michigan. At the age of three, she moved with her family to a farm on North Brinton Road in Lake, Michigan. She attended Barryton High School, graduating with the class of 1956. On May 11, 1957, she married Donald "Donnie" Pung at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Beal City. Diana and Donald raised ten children. Diana was employed at Yankee Store, Inc., the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center, retiring with 25 years of service. She was a manager of the Party Line on May Street in Mt. Pleasant for nine years, in addition to working at Tuma's Country Gourmet and Walgreen's on South Mission Street. Diana enjoyed playing cards, bowling, dancing, going to the casino, and catering weddings for her children, nieces, nephews, and friends. She enjoyed dressing up at Halloween in various costumes. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren making and rolling the dough, baking, frosting, and decorating her Grandma Irwin's sugar cookie recipe. She also enjoyed making banana bread and butterfinger dessert. Diana was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church and Altar Society, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Ruby Tuesday Card Club. Diana is survived by her children, Debbie Grewe, Dennis Pung, Darlene (Ed) Heimbuch, Donna Bell, Doris (Bill) Hensley, Deanna Pung, Dan (Sue) Pung, and Dottie Mueller; seventeen grandchildren, Don, Dana, Darryl, Elizabeth, Becca, David (Allie), Shawn, Kyle (Kyla), Brandon (Jasmine), Diane (Michael), Michael, Andrew, Tony (Matt), Nick, Kayla, Phillip, and Isabel; nineteen great grandchildren; siblings, Andy Stanley, Caroline Pung; sister in law, Ruby Stanley; and many nieces and nephews. Diana was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; daughters, Dawn and DeeDee; infant son Dean; in-laws, Joseph and Mattie Pung; and siblings, Marion Moore, Russell Stanley, Jr. and Donald Stanley. A funeral Mass for Diana will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2021, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held as celebrant and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 4p.m. – 8p.m. with a vigil starting at 7: 30 p.m and one half hour prior to Mass. Diana will be interred at St. Joseph Cemetery following the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of family. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R.
