Dolores June Schumacher, 85, of Beal City passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Sunday, May 21, 2017, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for June will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with a luncheon to conclude at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church or School. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. June was born June 1, 1931, in Lake City, MI, daughter of the late Leroy and Loretta (Recker) Hesson. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful smile. As a graduate of Beal City High School in 1949, June became the schools first-ever Homecoming Queen her senior year. She married James A. Schumacher on June 10, 1950 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. She was employed as a billing clerk for the Isabella County Medical Care Facility from 1980 until retirement in 1996. Prior to that, she had worked as a cashier at Giant Supermarket. June was very involved in her parish of St. Joseph the Worker. She was a member of its Altar Society and helped on many funeral luncheons. She had also served as Clerk for Deerfield Township for four years. June was a wonderful cook and loved planning family celebrations, especially each childs birthday and Christmas. After her retirement she enjoyed quilting and playing cards with her couples club and lady friends. But more than anything she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her loving family including her eight surviving children, Linda Morey of Mt. Pleasant, Vickie (Ken) Block of Beal City, Dan (Annette) Schumacher of Weidman, Kevin (Sandi) Schumacher of Midland, Craig (Lori) Schumacher of Marquette, Neil (Cheri) Schumacher of Mt. Pleasant, Jill (Larry) Noch of Mt. Pleasant, and Robb Wentworth of Beal City; son-in-law, Mike Pasch of Beal City; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Walton of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Rosalia Rau, Vivian Schumacher, Ila Schumacher and Joan Schumacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1962; daughter, Gail Pasch in 2014; brother, James Harold Hesson; three grandchildren, Lisa, Nicholas, and Angela Morey; and brother-in-law, Robert Walton. The family would like to express the deep gratitude to the staff of the Isabella County Medical Care Facility for the kind and loving care provided during her stay there.
