Donald F. Beckett

Donald Beckett, 64, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Charles R. Lux Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with the vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. Donny was born June 29, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Floyd and Velma (McKnight) Beckett. After his mothers death in 1946, Donnys father married Marie Esch. As a result of that union, Donny, his older sister, and his father all joined the Catholic Church. He had worked at restaurants in Traverse City and after 1973, worked for the Holiday Inn and Texan restaurants in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and enjoyed drawing. Donny is survived by his sister, Sister Mary Jo Beckett, O.P. of Grand Rapids.He was preceded in death by his parents.
