Donald D. Sprague, 81, of Greenville and Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor David Perry officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until the service begins. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you remember Don with a donation to the Diabetes Education Program at Sheridan Community Hospital (P.O. Box 279, Sheridan MI 48884). Don was born Nov. 20, 1923 in Clare County, the son of Chester W. and Bertha (Kubie) Sprague. After serving in World War II he attended the University of Michigan and received a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1956. Upon graduation he opened a private practice in Allegan. After practicing for a number of years he went to work in Newberry with the developmentally disabled. Later, he relocated to Mt. Pleasant at the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center to continue his work with the impaired children. He retired after 31 years of service. He had a love of books, hunting, farming, and spending time with his grandchildren. Don is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Diana; daughters, Kimberly and Del Christensen of Greenville and their children, Linsey and Ryan, Karla and Richard Rasmussen of Edmore and their sons, Dustin and Brandon, Charmin and James Braman of Mt. Pleasant and their sons, Taylor and Jamie. He also leaves behind a son, Dennis Sprague of Saugatuck, daughters, Lyn Sprague of Allegan and Connie Horton of Allegan and her son Timothy (Melissa) Horton; great-grandson, Forrest; a lifelong, dear friend, Virgil White; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sisters.
