Doris Arlene Best

Doris A. Best, 100, of Midland, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at MidMichigan Stratford Village in Midland. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to MidMichigan Stratford Village and Hospice of Michigan. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Doris was born October 13, 1913, in Salem Center, Indiana, daughter of the late Clyde and Sarah (Moore) Hutchins. She married Rista Best June 26, 1935 in Angola, Indiana. They lived in Lansing for 40 years before moving to the Mt. Pleasant/Midland area. Doris enjoyed playing cards, watching football and basketball. She had season tickets for Michigan State football for 47 years with her husband. She also volunteered for the Salvation Army for 30 years. She is survived by two sons, Richard (Linda) Best of Charlotte, and William (Lu) Best of Six Lakes; Eight grandkids, Dean (Jody) Best, Dan (Tomi) Best, Doug (Amy) Best, Dave Best, Bradley Best, Jamie (Matt) Bennett, Carrie Best and Lee (Kristi) Best; 14 great-grandchildren, Andrew (Laura) Best, Benjamin Best, Connor Best, Zackary Best, Taylor Musselman, Jacob Best, Amber Best, Ella Best, Maggie Bennett, Mikaluh Bennett, Alex Best, Emma Best, Jonathan Best and Lily Best; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rista in 1994, son Frank, daughter-in-law Susan; grandchild Bryan, two brothers, and three sisters.
