Dorothy Finnerty, 94, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph The Worker School or charity of the donors choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dorothy was born April 28, 1914, in Beal City, the daughter of William and Josephine (Vogel) Pung. She married Patrick J. Finnerty on April 21, 1932, at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. She was employed as a nurses aide for 10 years at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Prior to that, she was a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Mt. Pleasant and the Altar Society at St. Joseph The Worker Parish in Beal City. She enjoyed playing the piano and dancing. Dorothy is survived by three children, Phyllis Demski of Westland, Robert (Maxine) Finnerty of Beal City, and Rose Ann Wejrowski of Dearborn Heights; 31 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Theisen-Fedewa of Mt. Pleasant; one sister-in-law, Blanche Pung of Beal City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick in 1994; son and daughter-in-law, David and Terri Finnerty; two sons-in-law, Carl Demski and Jim Wejrowski; three brothers, Stephen, Harry, and Bernard Pung; and two grandchildren, Valerie Wejrowski and Michael Finnerty.
