Dorothy Brown, 75, of Sanford, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Lux Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from noon until 1 p.m. Dorothy was born April 9, 1929 in Flint, the daughter of Walter and Stella (Ludwig) Niswonger. She married Leland Hackett on April 26, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant. After his death in 1979 she married John Brown on May 18, 1980 in Midland County. She was a member of the Eagles 3677 in Sanford and the American Legion Post 443 in Sanford. She enjoyed bingo and crocheting Dorothy is survived by her husband, John Brown of Sanford; six children, Mary Jo (Stan) Warner of Rosebush, Linda VanBuskirk (Al Haskell) of Sanford, Kathryn (Garry) Burroughs of Mesick, Dan Hackett of Mt. Pleasant, Gary Hackett of Mt. Pleasant, and Patrick Hackett of Mesick; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Irene Hackett of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Hackett; brother, Paul Niswonger; and grandson, Travis Hackett.
