Dorothy Kowallic, 95, of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for Dorothy will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, December 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-6:30 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 1-2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Dorothy was born November 12, 1923, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Welniak) Lackie. She married Stanley Kowallic on May 24, 1941, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Leaton. She was employed as a housekeeper at Central Michigan University for over 19 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and former member of St. Charles/St. Henry Parish. She served as a eucharistic minister and belonged to the catholic daughters and VFW ladies auxiliary. Some of Dorothys favorite pastimes were traveling and snowmobiling. But more than anything, Dorothy loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and devoted wife to her husband Stanley, especially during his illness. Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Mary Greetis of Boyne City, Jan (Jack) Whitmore of Grand Ledge, and Barbara (Jim) Kunik of Shepherd; daughter-in-law, Barbara Kowallic of Minnesota; six grandchildren, Douglas Kunik of Shawnee, KS, Amy (Greg) Hudas of Clarkston, Jon (Brooke) Greetis of Houston, TX, Jeffrey Greetis of Chicago, IL, Christopher (Stacey) Kowallic of Mt. Pleasant, and Kevin (Brenda) Kowallic of Lake Isabella; 13 great grandchildren, Camryn, Michalynn, Olivia, Joseph, Kyle, Chloe, Ella, Kal, Kayla, Michael, Charlie, Derek, and Steven; five sisters, Agnes Zawacki of Leaton, Louise Fiolek-Lobsinger of Mt. Pleasant, Theresa Olszewski of Ithaca, Marge Clare of Mt. Pleasant, and Chris Wilson of Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph Kowallic; two sisters, Grace Lackie and Eva Downing; and brother, Don Lackie.
