Dorothy L. Tilmann, 82, of Beal City passed away peacefully Sunday, February 10, 2008, at home surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father Thomas J. McNamara presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with the vigil at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass begins. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or the building fund at St. Joseph Church. Envelopes will be available at Lux Funeral Home or the church. Dorothy was born Sept. 18, 1925, in South Wilmington, IL, the daughter of Matthew and Catherine (Cacello) Cornale. She graduated from Gardener High School in Gardner, IL in 1943. On April 24, 1948, she married Howard Tilmann at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. Together they owned Tilmanns Hardware, with Dorothy working as bookkeeper. Her faith was very important to her. She has been a member of St. Joseph Parish since 1948. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading, sewing, and playing bridge. Dorothy is survived by her two children, Gail (Bill) Herdlein and Gary Tilmann (and fiance, Janet) both of Beal City; daughter-in-law, Cindy Tilmann of Weatherford, TX; two grandchildren, Sara and Anthony Tilmann of Weatherford, TX; one great-granddaughter, Emma; and one sister, Irene Watson of Coal City, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2003; two sons, Tom in 1996 and Bruce in 1997; two sisters; and one brother.
