Edith Yvonne Houghton

Edith Houghton, 78, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at McLaren Central Michigan.  Edith was born on April 12, 1945, in Flint, MI., daughter of the late Alexander and Clara (Brownell) Ross.  Edith graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1963.  After High School she married David Emery and together they had two daughters, Rhonda and Denise.  Edith enjoyed staying at home with the girls and raising them.  After David's death, she went to work as a Forklift Driver for the Hemlock Semi-Conductor company.  During this time, she met and married her second husband, Eldon Houghton.  Edith enjoyed fishing, craft shows, garage sales and Flea Markets.  Most of all she loved her family.  She will be missed by so many.  Edith is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Chris) Ashland of Midland, and Denise (Shane) Lewis of Mt. Pleasant, grandchildren, Jessica and Tyler Ashland and Claire and Dylan Lewis.  She is preceded in death by both parents; husbands, David Emery and Eldon Houghton; brothers, Alexander Ross and Calvin Dale.  Per Edith's wishes, cremation has taken place at Memorial Fields Crematory and there are no services scheduled at this time.
