Edith Pingatore, 91, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, October 25, 2002 at Tendercare in Mt. Pleasant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery in Rosebush. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m.. Visitation continues at the church on Monday from 10:30-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation, 302 S. Kinney, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Edith was born Feb. 7, 1911, in Pickford, the daughter of William H. and Elizabeth (Bassett) Ball. Edith spent 29 years teaching special education classes at the Mental Health Department and also at Central Michigan University. She retired in 1975. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, past president of the Newberry Business and Professional Womens Association, past president of Zonta, and was in the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Edith is survived by a brother, Vern (Beatrice) Ball of Saulte Ste. Marie; five grandchildren, Steven (Rose) Pingatore of Mt. Pleasant, Cathy (John) Elliott of Cathedral City, Calif., Sandra (Leslie) McMurphy of Roseville, Joseph (Polly) Pingatore of Eugene, Ore., and Todd (Karen) Pingatore of Fountain, Colo.; 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Frederick Pingatore.
