Ed Baird, 54, of Alma, MI, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at McLaren Central Michigan. Cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life Service 3 p.m. " 8 p.m. on Sunday February 18, 2018 at Rubbles Bar (112 W. Michigan St., Mt Pleasant, MI 48858). A private interment at Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family to assist with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home or Rubbles. Ed was born January 24, 1963, in Big Rapids, MI, son of the late Donald and Thelma (Orwig) Baird. Ed had a love, passion and talent as a musician. He shared this as owner of Guitar Central in Mt Pleasant. He was a bass player, keyboardist and vocalist in numerous bands throughout central Michigan for over 30 years. Most remembered as a member of the Essentials he now joins the Rubbles Alumni Band in Heaven. Ed would best be described by these words. kind, humorous, mentor to many, friend, and gentle soul. Ed was positive in his ways with his loved ones and friends and faced whatever challenges God put in front of him. A mans wealth is not measured by how much he has accumulated, but rather by the love he has shown to those around him and the closeness of true friends he has made. Ed has gone home a very rich man and will forever be loved and remembered by many. Ed is survived by his brother, Karl Baird of Burnsville, MN; two nephews, Nicholas and Logan Baird of Apple Valley, MN; and many lifelong devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Thelma Baird.
