Edward J. Fox, 90, of Weidman passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008 at New Hope Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father Thomas J. McNamara presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Church on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday from 10 a.m. until the Mass begins at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph The Worker Church or to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln. Ed was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Isabella County, the son of John and Clara (Rau) Fox. He married the late Agnes Breuer on June 8, 1940, at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. For 25 years Ed owned and operated Fox Hardware in Weidman. He was instrumental in establishing the Nottawa-Sherman Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for 20 years and was a former Isabella County Commissioner. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, repairing things, reading, and crosswords. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife Agnes. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, charter member of the Beal City Knights of Columbus Council 3651, Lions Club, and Weidman Business Association. Ed is survived by his son, Bill Fox of Weidman; three grandchildren, Jamie Jelsma, and Eddy and Valerie Fox; eight great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Herman Kremsreiter; sister-in-law, Agnes Fox of Beal City; and many nieces and nephews. Besides is wife, Agnes, Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Fox; two brothers, Bill and Stephen Fox; and four sisters, Margaret Judge, Doris Sprague, Loretta Fox, and Rosaleen Kremsreiter.
