Elinor "Trix" Patricia Carey

Trix Carey, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at Maplewood of Mt. Pleasant. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Andrew Miller officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lux Family Life Story Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Cancer Services or First Presbyterian Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Trix was born December 18, 1923, in Saginaw, daughter of the late Lewis C. and Ruby A. (Purcell) Wendt. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1941, attended Central Michigan College and graduated from Northwestern University Nursing School in Evanston, IL (formerly Wesleyan Memorial School of Nursing). On June 28, 1947 she married Terry Carey at Sacred Heart. She was employed by Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns as a registered nurse. Trix is survived by two sons, Mike (Sue) Carey of Mt. Pleasant and Mark (Kathy) Carey of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Shannon (Mark) Dillon of Folsom, CA, Erin (Andy) Schor of Lansing and Sean (Katie) Carey of Lansing; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan and Hannah Schor, Sarah and James Dillon, and Brynn Carey.
