Elizabeth Rose Hughes

Elizabeth Rose Hughes, 76, passed away on September 20, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alma surrounded by family. She was born on September 7, 1950, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Leonard and Stella (Bennett) Pamp.

Elizabeth was a 1970 graduate of Butler, Indiana. She continued her education at Glen Oaks, where she earned her associate degree, and later attended Western Michigan University, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She built a career as a secretary, first working in Pharmaceutical at UpJohn and later serving at the State Mental Hospital, from which she retired.

She was known for her spirited nature and her strong opinions, qualities that made her memorable to those who knew and loved her. Elizabeth enjoyed playing pool, spending time at the casino, going to concerts with her sister Colleen, but above all she loved collecting anything Harley-Davidson. She was also part of a sewing group, though what she valued most there was the chance to be with people and enjoy their company. Among the greatest joys of her life were her children and grandchildren, and she always looked forward to receiving pictures from them.

Elizabeth is survived by her children; Gayle Ruhl of Mt. Pleasant, Chad Ruhl of Coldwater, Ryan (Courtney) Ruhl of Coldwater; grandchildren, Arlan George, Cauy (girlfriend, Adrianna T-I) George, Lars George, Addalia Burkart, Ada Ruhl, and Tilly Ruhl; great-grandchild, Minori; sibling, Colleen Wagner of Mt. Pleasant; and sister-in-law, Judy Pamp of Mt. Pleasant. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and she treasured each connection, always taking delight in the lives and milestones of those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard and Stella (Bennett) Pamp; sisters, Julie Snyder, Beverly (Dave) Pamp-Ettinger, and Betsy (Frank) Crooker; and brother, Matthew Pamp.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her lively spirit, her love of family, and the unmistakable presence she brought into every room. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to be carried forward by the family she cherished so deeply.

Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.

A Funeral service celebrating Elizabeth's life will be held on Friday, September 25th at 11 am at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at the Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the Funeral Home). Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery following the luncheon. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
