Elizabeth Stankwitz, 95, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at the Pines Healthcare Center in Lansing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Loren Kalinowski presiding. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Envelopes are available at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd. Elizabeth was born Jan. 20, 1913, in Beckemeyer, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Agnes (Koch) Wolfe. She married Herbert Carl Stankwitz Sr. in Bowling Green, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and loved to write poetry. She was very devoted to her family. Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Linda Glover of Grand Ledge and Judy (Lou) Villani of Naples, FL; one son, Herbert Carl (Rita) Stankwitz Jr. of Clifton, VA; two sisters, Margaret Vallier and Helen Hartz both of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her parents; two brothers, Joe Wolfe and Bill Wolfe; her sister, Gertrude Karbon, and her son-in-law, Patrick Glover.
