Elton Leroy Goffnett

Elton LeRoy Goffnett, age 88, of Mount Pleasant, Michigan passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 in Mount Pleasant. He was born on September 19, 1927 to Lawrence and Ethel Goffnett. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Frances Holliday on June 30, 1951. They had four children: Ethel Ann Larsen (Terry) of Mount Pleasant, Eric LeRoy Goffnett (Adrienne) of Mount Pleasant, Erin Lynn Timmons (Kevin) of Mount Pleasant and Erlene Kay Havice (Ron) of Oregon. They had five grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Elton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn and two brothers Stanley and Cecil. Elton enjoyed telling stories about the good ole days . To sit with him was a walk down memory lane. He loved talking about antique tractors and steam engines. He enjoyed old friends, family, woodworking, the Grand Ole Opry and making people laugh. Elton was Korean War Veteran and retired from Central Michigan University. A service celebrating Eltons life will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Eldred officiating. Interment will follow the service in Riverside Cemetery beside Evelyn. Friends will gather with the family on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.
