Elton R. Huber, 84, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 at home. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Lux Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Reith of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House Campaign at Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Elton was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Carl J. and Ester A. (Isberg) Huber. He married Betty Dougherty on Jan. 10, 1944 in Mt. Pleasant. In 1930 he graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and later received his associates degree in Accounting in Chicago, IL. From 1943-1945 he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion, Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge, Elks Club, Michigan Oil and Gas Association, and Mt. Pleasant Country Club. Some of his favorite pastimes included golfing, playing cards, and being outdoors. Over the years he worked as an accountant for Midway Supply, Osceola Pipeline, Western Crude, Patrick Petroleum, and Krapohl Ford. He retired after working for Muskegon Development. Elton is survived by his wife, Betty of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Mary Lynne Huber of Rosebush; two sons-in-law, Ed Varga and Doug Staveley, both of Rosebush; five grandchildren, Jeff (Gerri) Prout, Jamie Prout, Sarah Staveley, Steve Varga, and Chad Varga;three great-grandchildren, Brittany and Jaylyn Prout and Andrew Varga; his brother, Glen Huber of South Lyon; and numerous nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Connie Staveley in 1999 and Marsha Marty Varga on Oct. 20, 2006; his brother, Floyd Huber; and his parents.
