Emma J. Shefferly, 74, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of St. Clair Shores died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Mt. Clemens. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday from 10:30-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Emma was born July 12, 1930 in Detroit, the daughter of John and Tina (Vernier) Kelso. She married Francis Shefferly on Oct. 23, 1948 in Detroit. She was employed as a punch press operator for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She moved to Mt. Pleasant from St. Clair Shores in 1998. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and enjoyed gardening. Emma is survived by two sisters, Patricia (Henry) Meabrod of Mt. Pleasant and Kathleen (Tom) Montreuil of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, John (Joyce) Kelso of Myrtle Beach, SC; three nieces, Chris (Tom) Flannery of Mt. Pleasant, Nancy (Al) Ghesquiere of Lake Isabella, and Karen Proper of Davison; and three nephews, Henry (Mary Lou) Meabrod of New Baltimore, Paul (Gail) Meabrod of Chesterfield Township, and Kenneth (Leslie) Rouleau of Durand. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis in 1989; and niece, Susan Meabrod.
