Emmett Edward Houghton

Emmett Edward Houghton, age 85, of Weidman passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland surrounded by his loving family.

Emmett was born on June 26, 1929 to Emmett Edward and Alida H. L. (Gutow) Houghten in Farmington, MI. He grew up and attended school in the Farmington area. He married Jeanne Marie Lafond on October 21, 1949 in Angola, Indiana. Emmett was a lifelong farmer and he enjoyed hunting, tractor shows, going to Cheboygan with Jean, and dancing; but spending time with his family was a priority.

Emmett is survived by his children, Emmett Houghton , Jr, Linda Aldrich, William (Debby) Houghton, Don (Patsy) Houghton, Dennis Houghton, Diane Houghton, George Houghton, John (Lisa) Houghton and Carol (Larry) Ohnesorg; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and one sister Marge (Houghten) Schulkins.

A funeral service for Emmett will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Maier Family Funeral Home in Weidman at 2:00 p.m. with Emmett Houghton, Jr officiating. The family will greet visitors at a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
