Mary Ernestine Bintz, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at The Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant. Ernestine was born on Friday, February 10, 1928 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Earl Howard and Mabel Mary (Biggs) Keim. She married Neil Frederick Bintz on June 30, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan. She lived in Mt. Pleasant for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mostly a home maker, Ernestine also was employed as an elementary school music teacher and a substitute teacher. She enjoyed volunteering with the Commission on Aging, Food with Friends, worked as an election worker, was a volunteer with the Student Activity Center for Central Michigan University, enjoyed classical music and watching her birds. Funeral services for Ernestine will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Diane Gordon of the First United Methodist Church officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday from 11 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions are suggested to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or the Prestige Centre. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Ernestine is survived by her three children, Sandra Greenwald and husband Dennis Woehler of Mt. Pleasant, Deborah Bintz-Clark and husband Nate Clark of Philadelphia, PA, and David Bintz of Mount Laurel, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Leah and Daniel Segura and Ellen and Jerry Lowery; four great grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neil in 1982; two brothers, John Howard Keim and Robert Keim, and a sister, Lois Rinn.
