Eugene Darlene Lloyd, a beacon of kindness and warmth, passed away peacefully at her residence in Big Rapids on May 31, 2026. Born on April 29, 1954, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Eugene lived a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was a stay-at-home caregiver for many years, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to the nurturing and well-being of those around her. Eugene’s spirit was marked by a wonderful happiness and a gentle kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

On August 4, 1990, Eugene married Donald “Frog” Lloyd in Mecosta County, Michigan, sharing a bond deeply rooted in love and mutual respect. Though they have both now passed, Eugene’s memories with Donald remain vivid and cherished by those who knew them.

Eugene found joy in crafting with her great-grandchildren, a pastime that not only showcased her creative heart but also strengthened the special bonds that she treasured so dearly. She delighted most in the simple joy of spending time with family, always placing their happiness above all else.

She was very modest about her accomplishments, never seeking the spotlight, yet her life’s work spoke volumes; a legacy of love, dedication, and happiness that will endure in the hearts of her loved ones.

Eugene was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ada Smith; her father, Eugene Knoll; her husband, Donald “Frog” Lloyd; and her sister, Valerie Knoll Staley Gillard. Their memory lives on in the stories shared and the love that continues to surround her family.

Though the world feels a little dimmer without Eugene’s radiant presence, her spirit shines brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her kindness, generosity, and loving nature will forever be remembered and cherished.

May Eugene rest in peaceful eternal love, her legacy a testament to a life beautifully lived.
