Fae Verlie Codden, 97, of Rosebush passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Rosebush Manor. A Funeral Mass for Verlie will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery following the luncheon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation (P.O. Box 522, Mt. Pleasant MI 48804-0522) or Rosebush Manor (4210 E. Rosebush Rd., Rosebush MI 48878). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Verlie was born October 4, 1919, in Isabella County, Michigan, daughter of the late William and Winnie (Cross) Detwiler. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in 1937, she married Avery Codden on June 9, 1939 in Alma. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was a former member of St. Henry Parish in Rosebush where she served on the Altar Society and volunteered for many funeral luncheons for over 20 years. She also worked as a teacher aide for third and fourth grades at St. Henry School. She is survived by two children, Patricia Codden of St. Louis, MO, and Daniel Codden of Schenectady, NY; daughter-in-law, Carol Codden of Benzonia; son-in-law, Doug Durfee of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Winnie Detwiler; husband, Avery Codden in 2001; two children, Linda Durfee in 2008 and Michael Codden in 2014; and six siblings, Mae Belle Hunter, Gerald Detwiler, Syble Jones, Beatrice Seiter, Vergie Thorn, and Melvin Detwiler.
