Betty Archey, 84, formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Maple Lane Senior Care in Shepherd. Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Lux Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service begins. Cremation will take place after the viewing with inurnment in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Betty was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Clare, the daughter of Jay and Mary (Wilson) Green. She married Edward Bud Archey April 6, 1941 in Lansing. She graduated from Clare High School in 1940 and volunteered at the Commission on Aging, primarily helping with Meals on Wheels. She also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Some of her favorite pastimes were vegetable gardening and cooking. She loved to play bridge with her friends and often played hearts, yatzee, and spades with her grandchildren. Betty is survived by four children, Mary (John) Bretschneider of Cadillac, Carol (Greg) Thrush of Minneapolis, MN, James (Kathryn) Archey of Mt. Pleasant, and Dorothy (Ed) Howard of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren, Amy Duffy, John and Tommy Bretschneider, Clayton and Jeremy Thrush, Samantha Usher, Patty Vachio, and Eddie, Charlie and James Howard; seven great-grandchildren, Isaac and Andrew Duffy, Richie and Avery Usher, and Alexis, Ashlyn, and Lilly Thrush; a brother, Jack Green of Clare, a sister, Frances Sanborn of Auburn;three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Green,Maxine Green, and Frances Archey; and one brother-in-law Robert Archey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Bud Archey in 1982; a brother, Jay Green; and two sisters, Dorothy McConnell and Josephine Schilling.
