Frances Reihl, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at Rosebush Manor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding and Father Thomas J. McNamara concelebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Friday from 2-5 to 7-9 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Rosebush Manor or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Frances was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of John T. and Bernice L. (Codden) Carey. A 1947 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Frances was a member of the high school choir during the time the school song was written. On Feb. 7, 1948, she married the late Charles Reihl at Sacred Heart Parish, where she is currently a member. She and her husband had also belonged to St. Joseph The Worker Parish in Beal City. She worked for a number of places including The New Yorker, JC Penny, Robaires, and Central Michigan Community Hospital as a Nurses Aide. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at CMCH, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Altar Society at Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Parishes. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed her travels with them. She made all of her grandchildrens wedding cakes and loved watching them play sports. She also enjoyed making grave blankets and wreaths and just being around people and helping them with their needs. Frances is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou (Ken) Ray of Mt. Pleasant, Sharon (Bill) Brown of Lake Isabella, and Linda (Dale) Ellis of Remus; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Mildred Carey of Plant City, FL. Besides her husband, Charles, Frances was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jack Carey.
