Frances A. Walters, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant with her daughter, Candi at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Loren Kalinowski presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 2-8 p.m. at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Frances was born April 20, 1920, in Titusville, PA, the daughter of Charles and Sophia Kielp. She later married Pete Walters. She had two careers and likely would have opted for a third, had she been able. She worked 25 years at the Regional Center, followed by an additional 15 years at the Commission on Aging. Fran enjoyed golfing and bowling and was distinguished for her many acts of kindness. Frances was the beloved mother of Candi Duncan of Mt. Pleasant and John (Cheryl) Walters of Logan, UT; loving grandmother to Amy Frances, Samantha Frances, and Paul Lewis; loving great-grandmother to Jocelyn, Hannah, and John; and dear aunt to several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband Pete; and four siblings, Mary, August, Adam and Michael. We loved her dearly, and our lives will be diminished by her absence. Our family is grateful to Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant for looking after our loved one with such extraordinary compassion.
