Francis Joseph Molson, aged 93, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025. Born on October 30, 1932, in Whiting, Indiana, he was the son of John and Mary (Tumidalsky) Molson. Francis married Mary Lois Myers on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University and his Master's Degree from Notre Dame.
Francis dedicated 30 years of his life to teaching as a Professor of English at CMU, where he also served as the English Department Chair until his retirement. He was known for his innovative classes, including "Heroic Traditions in Children's Literature," and published numerous articles, such as "The Fine Art of Illustrating for Children," which features works from the art collection he and his wife Mary curated. This collection is currently displayed at the Clarke Historical Library.
Francis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Lois. He is survived by his son Charles, daughters Barbara, Mary, and Caroline (Jim) Ford, and grandchildren James and Catherine. The family is holding a private ceremony in his honor.
