Frank Theisen, 91, of Beal City, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father John Cotter presiding. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 4:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker School or Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Frank was born March 6, 1914, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Albert and Gertrude (Thelen) Theisen. He was a lifelong resident of Isabella County. He attended Sacred Heart Academy where he played basketball and football. He married Frances M. Shanahan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Oct. 27, 1937. His first job was with Kenney Brothers Wholesale for ten years. In 1945 Frank and Frances moved the family to Beal City and went into the tavern business for 16 years. He also worked as a construction foreman for 23 years, with 18 of those spent at CMU. He retired in 1976. Frank has always been an enthusiastic sportsman, attending games at Central Michigan University for over 73 years. As a young man he played golf and won a Mt. Pleasant County Club championship in 1930-31. He also took great pride in attending the sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank was a member of a golf league at Lake Isabella for many years, a life member of the Beal City Business Association and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank is survived by his children, William Theisen of Weidman, James Theisen, Jack (Marilyn) Theisen, Gertrude (Harry) Smith, and Margaret (Fred) Yuncker all of Beal City and Michael (Ruth) Theisen of Mt. Pleasant; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Irene Theisen-Fedewa, Eloise Theisen, Dorothy Theisen and Margaret Theisen all of Mt. Pleasant. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife Frances in 1983; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Theisen; five brothers, Walter, Clifford, Elmer, Roy, and Howard Theisen; two sisters, Rosilyn Theisen and Viola Graham; and two special friends, Loretta Hesson and Lois Fuller.
