Frank Sklodowske, 81, of Weidman and formerly of Detroit, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 17, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father Patrick Jankowiak presiding. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Frank was born March 19, 1930, in Windber, PA, one of 13 children born to the late Anthony and Bertha (Razapne) Sklodowske. He married Elizabeth Baranski on Nov. 19, 1955, at St. Epiphany in Detroit. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Detroit. He retired in 1989 at which time he and his wife moved to Weidman. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and the Beal City Knights of Columbus Council 3651. Frank is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; four children, Nancy (Barry) Ano of Ausable Forks, NY, Joseph (Patricia) Sklodowske of Traverse City, and twins, Walter Sklodowske of Weidman and Anthony (Jennifer) Sklodowske of Detroit; and six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a son, Frank J. Sklodowske Jr. in 1957.
