Fred Miller, 87, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant. He was born Feb. 11, 1919 in Broomfield Township, Isabella County, the son of Bert and Beatrice (Shenk) Miller. A life resident of Isabella County, Fred was employed at Michigan Chemical. He also worked at Ducommon Machine Shop for 15 years and spent seven years at Lueders Repair Shop. He eventually opened Fred Miller Repair Service at his home, operating the business for 15 years until his retirement in 1986. Since his retirement he has been an active volunteer for the Commission on Aging. Fred is survived by his sister, Martha Mapes of Dothan, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and his good friends, Jim and Cherrie Rondy of Remus. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Union Cemetery near Blanchard with Pastor Melody Olin of Coomer United Methodist Church officiating.
