Frederick F. Stribley, 88, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, December 31, 2005 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging or the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Fred was born January 7, 1917 in Pachuca Hidalgo, Mexico, the son of Ricardo and Minnie (Tyack) Stribley. He married Sarah Peg Pratt on March 2, 1944 in Pachuca. He was employed at numerous press companies including Ann Arbor Press, Craft Press in Ann Arbor, Huron Press in Ypsilanti and Abco Press in Ypsilanti. He retired in 1981 after working for Central Michigan University printing department for five years. Fred was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and a former member of the VFW Post 3033. He enjoyed golfing, camping, traveling, dancing, college sports, and attending CMU sporting events. He was a frequent volunteer at the Senior Center. From 1941-1945 Fred served in the U.S. Navy. He was a gunners mate in World War II arriving in Pearl Harbor a week after the attack. Most of his time in the service was spent on the U.S.S. Whitney, a ship primarily used to repair cruisers. Fred is survived by four children, Peggy (Bill) Sowle of Mt. Pleasant, Richard (Diane) Stribley of San Antonio, TX, Ruth Darrah of Linden, and Kathy Stribley of Syracuse, NY; six grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Richard Stribley of Williamston. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sarah Peg in 2003; his sister, Winifred Peters in 2005; and his son-in-law, Dan Darrah in 2002.
