Gary Roy Cole

Gary Cole, 81, of Mount Pleasant passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at home with his family by his side. He was born on May 2, 1942, in Mount Pleasant. He was the son of the late Delbert R. and Ruth E. Cole Gary graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1960. He then became a marine mechanic, Mount Pleasant city police officer, and the owner of Cole Construction. Gary met the love of his life, Ann Carroll, and the two wed on October 14, 1961, at Sacred Heart and were married for 62 years. They were blessed with 4 children, Mark (Julie) Cole and their children Jason, Emily, Hannah, and Katie; Scott (Cindy) Cole and their children Sam, Taylor and Ben; Laurie (Greg) House and their children Stacy, Joe and Lauren; and Terrie (Derrick) House and their children Andrew, Isabel and Daniel; nine great grandchildren; in-laws, Susan and Bob Wender, Marilyn and Norm Assmann, Joe and Jan Carroll, and Dave and Monica Carroll; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to hunt and fish. Some of the best times in Gary's life were spent on Lake Michigan, salmon fishing and spending time at deer camp. In recent years, he enjoyed taking pontoon rides with family and friends at the cottage. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; parents in-law, Lloyd and Dorothy Carroll; brother in-law, Michael Carroll; and sister, Judy Broad. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Friday, February 2, 2024, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriner's Hospital for children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
