Gary A. Dangler, 63, of Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Tendercare in Mt. Pleasant. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor John Boley of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 1 p.m. until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion or to the VFW Post 3033 in Mt. Pleasant. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Gary was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Isabella County, the son of John W. and Ila E. (Walton) Dangler. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was renowned as the youngest enlisted man to make chief. He was employed by the City of Mt. Pleasant as an electrical inspector and also worked for Dow Chemical as an electrician. He enjoyed music and watching movies. Gary is survived by two daughters, Lisa and Mary; his sister, Bonnie (Richard) Yates of Manistique; his brother, Richard (Terri) Dangler of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Lucinda (Joe) Clevenger of Shepherd, Edward (Pam) Dangler of St. Louis, Christopher (Debbie) Yates of Plymouth, and Christine (Jeff) Tuller of Owosso. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two half-brothers, Dwight Dangler and Bernard Dangler.
