Gary Lynn Mcarthur

Gary L. McArthur, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Born on September 21, 1945, in Weidman, Michigan, Gary was a proud graduate of Weidman High School, where he earned the distinction of valedictorian in 1963. He continued his education at Central Michigan University, graduating in 1967—a reflection of his lifelong commitment to learning and achievement.

Gary served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, including overseas service in Germany. Upon returning home, he began his career at Isabella Bank in Weidman, rising to the position of branch manager. He later moved to Syracuse, New York, where he worked as an auditor for the Syracuse Public School System before retiring to Tucson, Arizona.

In 2015, Gary married Paul Wills, his beloved partner of many years. Their marriage was a reflection of the deep love, friendship, and commitment they had long shared. Together, they built a life filled with quiet joy and mutual support, remaining devoted to one another until Paul's passing.

Gary also had a deep love of travel. Whether exploring the beauty of the United States or venturing to destinations abroad, he found great joy in discovering new places and cultures. Travel enriched his life, offering adventure, connection, and lasting memories. He was also an avid gardener, nurturing indoor and outdoor plants with care and attention. His thoughtful nature extended to the many lives he touched as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lisa (McArthur) Holland and Jeff (Chrissy) McArthur; grandchildren Ashley, Jesse, Emma, Logan, Katie, Kara, Zach, and Justin; siblings Doug (Donna) McArthur and Linda (Steve) Fussman; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Jean (Showalter) McArthur, and his beloved partner and husband, Paul Wills.

A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will take place at a later time.

Gary will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and the adventurous spirit that carried him through a life well lived.
