Gary Schumacher, 73, of Beal City passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at his home, with his family at his side. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass for Gary will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner as celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Clinic; Department of Kidney Transplant or St. Joseph the Worker Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Gary was born July 16, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Aloysius and Thelma (Vincent) Schumacher. A 1961 graduate of Beal City High School, Gary married Judy Bierschbach on November 23, 1963 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. He was a lifelong dairy and beef farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish and the Beal City Knights of Columbus Council 3651. Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy; six children, Steve (Carolyn) Schumacher, Doug Schumacher, Pam (Doug) Stevens, Jim (Jan) Schumacher, Becky Garrett, and Ed (Brook) Schumacher, all of Beal City; 15 grandchildren, Derek, Brittany and Lucas Schumacher, Paxton and Rheid Schumacher, Chad (Larissa) Stevens, and Todd and Melanie Stevens, Jackson and Jody Schumacher, Samantha and Grant Garrett, and Sage and Paisley Schumacher; and one great-grandson, Austin Stevens; brother, Ron (Joan) Schumacher of Beal City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Thelma Schumacher; and sister, Diane Boling.
