Georgia Jean Thering, 58, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Lux Funeral Home with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Chippewa Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Community Cancer Services. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Georgia was born Dec. 21, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Glenn and Virgil (Allen) Kennedy. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1966. On Feb. 4, 1967 she married William J. Thering at Sacred Heart Church. For the past 11 years she was employed by Central Vending. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, playing cards, and going to garage sales. Georgia is survived by her husband, William Thering of Mt. Pleasant; three children, Chris and Don Emmons of Shepherd, Kelly and Joe VanOrden of Shepherd, and Kyle Thering of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Ryan and Casey Emmons and Katy and Allison VanOrden; and two sisters, Josephine Riley of Mt. Pleasant and Jean and Jack Veit of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, John Riley, brother-in-law, Don Thering; and good friend, Larry Welch.
