Gerald Sheahan, 88 passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Maplewood of Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass for Jerry will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A luncheon will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. A private family burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Sunday, April 2, from 2-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging or Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jerry was born December 20, 1928 at the family home in Rosebush, son of the late Eugene and Agnes (McGuirk) Sheahan. After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 1947, he married his classmate and love of his life, Dorothy Dot Voisin on May 8, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jerry and Dot loved traveling and were fortunate enough to visit 115 countries and every continent in the world. He owned and operated the Greenspot Pub on the corner of Mission and Pickard for 20 plus years. Many will remember Jerry for the role he played as Santa Claus and the Christmas decorations that adorned their home for 40 plus years on the corner of Kinney and Lincoln Streets. Jerry is survived by six children, Michael Sheahan of Houston, TX, Timothy (Tammy) Sheahan of Bay City, Kathleen Sheahan (James Minehan) of Mt. Pleasant, Patrick (Julie) Sheahan of Chicago, Maureen (Blake) Yesmunt of Shepherd, and Jerry J.J. Sheahan of Canton; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann (Marinus) Verwey of Rosebush; He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy, in 2016; brother, Richard Sheahan; and sister-in-law, Rose Marie Sheahan; and son-in-law, William Stahl.
