Gerald Yuncker, 81, of Beal City passed away Monday, March 23, 2009, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m Friday, March 27, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father Thomas J. McNamara presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., Thursday from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., and Friday from 9-9:30 a.m. No visitation will be held at the church prior to mass. A vigil service will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging or St. Joseph The Worker Parish. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jerry was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Detroit, the son of William and Anna (Gross) Yuncker. While roller skating, he met and later married the love of his life, the late Catherine Kitty Clare on July 23, 1949 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. A graduate of Beal City High School, Jerry was a dairy farmer most of his life. He also had worked at Ferro Manufacturing and Sovas Mt. Pleasant Nursery. He was currently employed by Alwood Nursery. He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Parish and the Beal City Knights of Columbus council 3651. Jerry had a passion for music, and in his younger years, played saxophone for many events. He loved most any sport and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Some of his favorite pastimes were gardening, landscaping, and hunting. But the number one love in his life was his family, especially the special bond he shared with his grandchildren. His survivors included his six children and 16 grandchildren, Rick (Jean) Yuncker of Montrose and their children, Sara, Shawn, and Katie (Scott) Rogalla; Vickie (David) Shoff of Mt. Pleasant and their children, Jessicca (Larry) Sommer, Brittney, and Chelsea; Cindy (Andy) Spence of Mt. Pleasant and their children, Michael and Megan (Andy) Theisen; Marty Yuncker of Beal City and his children, Matt and Makaila; Mark (Denise) Yuncker of Beal City and their children, Marcus, Ryan, and Valerie; and Amy Himes (fiance, Collin Herren) of Mt. Pleasant and her children, Whitney, Lindsey, and Rielley Kate; and two great-grandchildren, Nolan Rogalla along with the future baby Theisen. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kitty in 2006; infant son, Rocky.Jerry always said, If I had to live my life over again, I wouldnt change a thing.
