Harlan Hall, 79, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fathter Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., with the vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility, Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Academy Foundation, or the charity of choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Harlan was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Wayne and Nellie (Kissane) Hall. He married Gladys Fate on Aug. 7, 1948 at Sacred Heart. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in 1946, Bones began his career with Sun Oil Company in 1948 where he retired after 25 years of service. In 1959 he founded Hall Brothers Sales and Service, operating in Mt. Pleasant, Clare, and Houghton Lake. In 1976 he purchased the former building on Broadway and Franklin known as the Taylor Building where numerous businesses operated throughout the years. In 1980 he partnered in forming BHS Inc., drilling and producing oil wells. Bones is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Gladys of Mt. Pleasant; seven children, Marcia Hall (Rochelle Hefner) of Leslie, Bill (Vickie) Hall of Mt. Pleasant, Sue (Mark) Baldwin of Saginaw, Jennifer Rasmussen of Belton, TX, Mark (Kim) Hall of Stockbridge, Liz (John) Gonzalez of Leslie, and Tom Hall of Mt. Pleasant; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers and two sisters, Leland Tink Hall of Mt. Pleasant, Carol (John) Smith of Beal City, Janet Henshaw of Plymouth, and Curtis Ike (Julie) Hall of St. Louis, brother-in-law, Donald Stinson of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister-in-law, Ruth Hall of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Stinson, Virginia Hall, and Marilyn Aldrich; and his brother, Bud Hall.
