Harold Luce, 72, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at his residence after a short bout with cancer. His funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Lux Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Buchner of Rosebush United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Weidman. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan for the new hospice house or to the charity of choice. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. A resident of the area the last 40 years, Harold was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Paris, MI, the son of Lynn and Hazel (Corey) Luce. He married Bonnie Hamilton April 28, 1956, in Grant Center. He retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant after 32 years as a bottling manager. He was a well-known presence at the local horse track, never failing to give you a tip if you asked. His retirement years were spent traveling having made trips to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand. 40 Trips were made to Canada alone. Some of his favorite pastimes were riding snowmobiles, hunting, fishing, and camping. Harold is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie; four daughters, Dawn (Sarge DuBois) Luce, Gail (Dave) Pung, Kathy (Greg) Dean, and Darlene (Bernie) Miller; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Lorna Fetters; his mother-in-law, Lucille Hamilton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his constant companion dog, Jessie. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Samantha Pappas; sister, Irene; and two brothers, Vern and Clifford.
