Harold Walter Sanderson

Harold Walter Sanderson, 85 of Lake Isabella, Michigan passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023, after a recent health battle.  Harold was born on May 14, 1938, to Walter and Ethel Sanderson in Burton Township, Genesee County Michigan.  Harold attended Edmore High School and Michigan State University, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He married Jan (Stone) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois in 1974 after a four-month courtship following a blind date arranged by their mutual Masonic friends.  Within two years they had four children, Carole, Elizabeth, Chad and Matthew. Harold worked for Rockwell International as a Mechanical Design Engineer for 32 years.  After retirement he enjoyed living at Lake Isabella and farming on his 40-acre farm where he was raised.  Harold served his country in the United States Army Reserves.  Harold was a former Deacon of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.  He also served as Deacon at Frist Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant.  He was Den leader for the Cub Scouts.

Made a Master Mason – March 3,1966 in Glen Ellyn Lodge No. 950 held in Glen Ellyn.

Worship Master 1983-1984

After being installed he processes to install all of his officers without Ritual Book.

This had never happened before Harold did it and it has not been done since.

Served as Treasurer 1984. 1985, 1986

Made a Royal Arch Mason - May 1968 in Wheaton Chapter No. 242 held in Wheaton Il.

Excellent High Priest in 1979

Served as District Deputy Grand High Priest – 2nd Area North of Illinois for 3 years.

Made a Royal and Select Master – May 1968 in DuPage Council No. 269 held in Wheaton Illustrious Master in year 1980.

Made a Knight Templar in May 1968 in Apollo Commandery No. 1 held in Wheaton, Il.

Eminent Commander in 1978 – Installed by a family friend, G. Wilbur Bell, MEPGM of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of the State of Illinois 1985 – 1986

Knight York Cross of Honor – Member of Illinois Priory No. 11 – Oct. 11, 1986

Harold was predeceased by his parents; brother, Otto (Mary Lou) Sanderson; and sister, Treva (Sune) Timour.  He is survived by his wife, Jan; brothers, Arnold (Sally) Sanderson and Leon (Lucy) Sanderson; four children, Carole (Brad) Emerick, Elizabeth (Adam) Park, Chad (Amanda) Sanderson; and Matthew (Patty) Sanderson; seven grandchildren, Nolan and Chase Emerick, Ethan and Lindsay Park, Andrew Sanderson, Jacob and McKenzie Sanderson. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Dr. Rev.
