Hedy Quillen, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at Woodland Hospice. A Funeral Mass for Hedy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning 4:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or the Mt. Pleasant Soup Kitchen. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Hedy was born July 18, 1919, in Isabella County, daughter of the late Jacob and Agatha (Jenny) Neyer. She married Patrick Quillen on Nov. 29, 1947 at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Chicago, IL. She attended Beal City Schools and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1937. She worked in a variety of occupations including sales at Carson-Pirie-Scott as well as being a cook and nurse maid in Florida. For the most part, Hedy was busy as a homemaker, raising 11 children. Her faith in God was the center of her life. She enjoyed painting, baking bread and pies, vegetable gardening, and sewing. Most of all, Hedy enjoyed being with her family, who looked to her as its pillar of faith. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and a small womens bible study group. Hedy is survived by 10 children, Carol Quillen of Beal City, Michael Quillen of Mecosta, Connie (Jerry) Miller of Martinez, CA, Barbara Crandall of Beal City, Deborah (Marty) Predmesky of Beal City, Elizabeth (John) Judge of Winn, Daniel Quillen of Hastings, Brian Quillen of St. Johns, Heidi Quillen of Mt. Pleasant, and Julie (Phil) Gross of Beal City; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Agnes Engler of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her husband Patrick; son, Mark; three brothers, John, Frank, and Tony Neyer; and three sisters, Matilda Leik, Frances Neyer, and Mary Neyer.
