Ida Mae Rush

Ida Mae Rush, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at McLaren Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Born on August 8, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the eldest daughter of the late Bruno August and Barbara Ann (LaBlanc) Persyn. She welcomed her younger siblings, Victor, Sylvia, Helena, Bruno, Bobby, Jimmy, Carolyn, and Donna. Her marriage to Donald Beck was blessed with three children: Donald, Cynthia, and Carolyn. She later married William Rush in 2003. Ida pursued her education to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in Big Rapids and Ludington, and she dedicated her career to caring for others as a CNA at Green Ridge in Big Rapids. Her work ethic was evident in her various roles, including positions at K-mart, bartending, and Foster's Grocery Store in Evart.

Ida was known for her love of family and her enjoyment of activities such as playing Bingo, bowling, crocheting, playing cards, and Dominoes. She had a special way with children and cherished her time with loved ones.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donald (Dennis Andrews) Beck of High Point, NC, Cindy (John) Savino of Grand Rapids, and Carolyn (Scott) Reinking of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Preston DesJardins and Bryan DesJardins, and Stone Reinking and Madison Reinking; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Mae DesJardins; siblings, Helena (Ray) Bezzina of Las Vegas, NV, Bobby (Jo) Persyn of Clare, and Jimmy (Dawn) Persyn of Clare; in-laws, Robert Baker of Holland, Kim Persyn of Florida, and John Dunford of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Rush; and siblings, Victor Persyn, Sylvia Baker, Bruno Persyn, Carolyn Dunford, and Donna Dunford.

Ida Mae's life will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Celebrant Michelle Sponseller officiating. A luncheon will follow in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour before the service.
