Irena Z. Orzechowska

Irena Orzechowska, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or funeral home. Irena was born May 10, 1919, in Hamtramck, the daughter of the late Kazimierz and Stanislawa (Oleszczynski) Ploski. She married the late Joseph Orzechowska in December of 1941 in Poland. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Irena is survived by a sister, Theresa Cwiek of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughter, Jolanda Zelewski of Poland; great-grandson, Radoslaw (Asia) Zelewski of Poland; two great-great-grandsons, Alex and Alan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Barbara Kobel; and brother, Richard Ploski.
