Betty Wood, 89, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Port Austin and Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. The family is being served by the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fancher Elementary School Library. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Betty was born June 22, 1919, in Detroit, the daughter of Leo and Irene (Woods) Albro. She married Roy Nelson Wood in 1939 in Holland. Betty was a contracted employee for the United States Post Office as a Rural Route Carrier for 18 years and most recently for the Department of Natural Resources at the Port Austin Boat Ramp. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bad Axe. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, but her favorite pastime was playing BINGO . Betty is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Alex) Sheves of Chester Springs, PA and Sigrid Wood of Mt. Pleasant; two grandsons, David (Sharon) and Michael (Tarrin) Schultz; three great-grandchildren, Keegan, Nash, and Samantha Schultz; and a sister, Leona (Don) Haas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy in 1978; and her parents.
