Iris Cleveland, 85, of Gladwin and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2015 at home. Her Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends 12:00 1:00 p.m. at the cemetery. Iris requested no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Iris was born May 21, 1930, in Dry Branch, WV, daughter of the late Cullie and Beatrice (Adkins) Carper. She married the late Delbert Cleveland on March 7, 1966, in Saginaw. A 1948 graduate of Sterling High School in Sterling, MI, Iris lived in Mt. Pleasant, Evart, Owosso and Oklahoma. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Mt. Pleasant until poor health forced her to retire in 1974. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and Eagles both in Clare. She loved playing euchre and, in her younger days, enjoyed fishing. Iris is survived by three grandchildren, Tonya Smith of Gladwin, Robert Smith III of Dallas, TX, and Cullie Wade Smith of Evart; five great-grandchildren; step-son, Gregory (Donna) Cleveland of Akron, OH; two brothers, Garland (Joyce) Carper of Gladwin and Herb Bruce (Diane) Carper of Beaverton; sister, Gloria (Ken) Doane of Harrison; and special friend Bob Wade of Bently. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert in 1994; three sons, Robert Smith, Jr., Timothy Curtis and Matthew Cleveland; and three brothers, William, James, and Corky Carper.
